Do Sloths Make Good Pets?

Do Sloths Make Good Pets?

You have probably seen some videos on Youtube, where you can see people holding these cute animals. And since there have been a lot of videos with them, they've become extremely popular.
Even celebrities have gone wild, the most popular when it comes to them is Kristen Bell, and you could even see her crying while talking about them.

It is not a surprise since they are really adorable. If you don't know anything about them, well they are medium-sized mammals, and they belong to the families Megalonychidae and Bradypodidae, and are classified into six species.

The main question is- are they good pets or not ? Well, the answer will probably be - no. They require a special diet and food. And since it is really hard to keep them legally as pets, we can honestly say they do not make good pets.
A lot of people are being tricked, because sloths seem like quiet and slow-moving animals, so many of them think that they have relaxed temperament.

For example two-toed sloths can be very aggressive and can bite very hard. There are on the other hand three-toed sloths, and they are more calm and obedient, but the problem with them is they cannot live well in captivity.
These animals belong to nature, they are meant to hang upside down from the trees, and land is simply not for them. They would feel confused, and would act totally clumsy.

So if you want to have one, we suggest you to visit their natural habitat, and simply spend some time with them, but keeping them as pets...it simply isn't a good idea.
