Dumbo Octopus

Dumbo Octopus

Most of you have probably never heard of this animal, and if you take a look at it, it really does look strange, but kind of cute.
When you think about the name, you see the word Dumbo, which is like the name of a famous Disney character and a movie. This animal got this name because it has ear-like fins on the top of the head and its head looks like the ears of famous Dumbo.
It belongs to Cephalopoda, Opisthoteuthidae and what we do know is there are fourteen species of this adorable creature.
This unusual creature lives in the ocean world and you can find it either above the water or on the floor.
Usually they live in the deepest parts of ocean, around 100- 5,000 meters below the level of the sea.
Like we said some of them simply love to sit on the ocean’s floor or be above the surface, while you have others who love open water.
This animal is actually very fast and very smart, which helps them in case they are someone’s prey, because they are excellent swimmers and they can quickly run if other animal wants to eat them.
When it comes to their diet they usually eat worms and bivalves and sometimes crustaceans.
From time to time you can see them eating a small fish, and what is very atypical about them is that when they eat their prey, they usually swallow its prey whole.
Even though you can’t find a lot of information about this specie, what is good about them is that they are nod endangered.
