The emotional support dogs with Emotional support ID as defined by the USA department of transportation, are the animals which assist people with disabilities by offering them emotional assistance.
The emotional support animals offer assistance to their handlers.

These animals are not Service Animals. An emotional support animal is completely different from a service animal. An emotional support animal benefits the owner by offering him emotional support, companionship and comfort. They are required to be trained for supporting a person with any disability. Many a times it becomes quite difficult to discriminate between a service animal and an emotional support animal. Ultimately, it is concluded that the owner of the animal is suffering from some kind of mental disease or some mental disorder but he is not fully physically disabled. This is why they can benefit a lot from a mere presence of an emotional support dog in their lives. But it’s not necessary that the animal has to accompany the holder in public also, the benefits of having an emotional support animal with an emotional support ID, properly recognized from an organization as an emotional support animal might include some issues related to the accommodation or residence of the owner like in case of a rented house.
