Scientists have created the perfect music for cats

Okay it’s not music as such because there is a lot of purr-ier more than the music itself and according to scientists it can be used so as to come down your cat.

Music has always been known to be very therapeutic and now scientists have proven that music can have the same effect on cats that it has on us. Not too fast though, according to scientist’s human music sucks, so what do cats actually like.

To be able to answer this question cat centric music was composed by scientists in the U.S. from University of Maryland and University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Charles Snowdon, the lead author of the studies told Discovery News reporter Jennifer Viegas that, "We looked at the natural vocalisations of cats and matched our music to the same frequency range, which is about an octave or more higher than human voices."
For cats, given that they are different from human in that for us humans the drumbeat often mimics our heart, the team replicated a set of tempos which cats do find interesting. One of the song that the researchers managed to come up with featured a suckling tempo while the other one a purring a tempo.

"And since cats use lots of sliding frequencies in their calls, the cat music had many more sliding notes than the human music," Snowdon told Viegas.
The study saw 47 domestic cats being played the music created while researchers noted their behavior.
In the journal articles researchers wrote that "The results suggest novel and more appropriate ways for using music as auditory enrichment for nonhuman animals."

Beside the therapeutic effects these research has also provided a fascinating insight into the cat’s specificness of melodies.
