What pet owners with kids should know

If you have a pet or you want to have one soon, but you already have a kid, there are some things you should know. The first and the most important is to remember that you are a pet owner and you are a parent, so you will have to pay enough attention to your child and on your pet. If you had a dog before you became a parent and that dog is socialized, there are no reasons for concern. Your dog already knows you, your habits and in a couple of weeks he will get used with your child. The same situation is with a cat.

If you have a child and you want to bring a new pet at home, the situation is a bit more complicated. You should remember that having a puppy or a kitten is a better choice that adopting an adult dog or cat. Adult dogs and cats already have their habits, so trying to change them is almost impossible. If they never saw a child before, it can be hard for them to get used to your child. Also, many of them are stressed so they can be aggressive sometimes. On the other side, a kitten or a puppy will accept you and your child much better.

Every parent should know that a kid is very curious and he wants to play with everything that he see. This includes a puppy or a kitten as well. In general, there are more chances that a kitten scratch your child than a puppy. This only happens when a child ‘’abuse’’ a pet, so you will have to prevent this.
